Sometimes you might think the rest you crave is for ease, pampering, quiet, and a little bit of luxury. And sometimes, that's exactly what is needed. But other times, rest comes in the form of climbing mountains and braving rugged terrain...
...it is found in a sweet little cabin you rent for it's affordability, not anticipating the blessing of it's simplicity...
...no running water and rustic amenities might feel freeing when TOO MUCH is characteristic of your everyday life.
...too much stuff, too much fuss, too much stress, too much fluff...
...and you find there's not much more you actually need than a sunny spot for all to gather..
...a warm meal...
...an early morning game of Monopoly...
...and an afternoon splitting wood with your Baba.
And, honestly, I've rarely known rest like the rest I felt watching misty clouds roll over the evening mountain tops, clearing away to reveal the most star-studded sky I have ever seen...
...and I felt rest, not because it is beautiful and quiet out in the dark, but because of this undeniable truth:
OUR GOD-- HE HOLDS ALL THINGS TOGETHER...THE STARS, THE MOON, THE MIST. Everything is suspended in perfect peace because He is in control.
...He delights in keeping us safely within His care; He delights in us trusting Him for it.
Whatever rest you might long for today, know this: All true rest begins on Calvary's hill, is maintained by His loving care, and finds it fulfillment in His glory revealed.
Have a blessed Monday, friends, and rest in the simplicity of Him being enough...and being your rest today.
