Today is the first day of Spring...and there's always an excitement that comes with the changing of seasons, especially one that brings new life, growth, and an awakening from the slumber of Winter's bitter cold.
The three fine art prints I'm releasing today are very special to me. They stand alone, but work harmoniously together as an ensemble...not only to welcome Spring, but ultimately in celebration of the blessing of life and the transformative new life believers have in Christ.
I was eager to have these ready for Easter...that we might look to remember Christ's redemptive work on the cross as much as we anticipate and celebrate his coming to be among us at Christmas. My hope is that homes would be graced with artwork that remind them of the beauty of the cross, the pierced hands, the crown of thorns, and the forgiveness that was purchased for us through Christ's blood. Did you know that dogwoods have traditionally been associated with the cross of Christ? (You may have noticed dogwoods as part of my logo for GraceLaced...)

At the time of the crucifixion, the dogwood had reached the size of the mighty oak tree. So strong and firm was the wood that it was chosen as the timber for Jesus' cross.
To be used for such a cruel purpose greatly distressed the dogwood. While nailed upon it, Jesus sensed this, and in his compassion said. "Because of your pity for my suffering, never again shall the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used for a cross. Henceforth, it shall be slender, bent, and twisted, and its blossoms shall be in the form of a cross–two long and two short petals.
"In the center of the outer edge of each petal will be the print of nails. In the center of the flower, stained with blood, will be a crown of thorns so that all who see it will remember."

I'm so thrilled to be able to offer these three fine art prints in the shoppe. Home is where we care for loved ones, train up small ones, and refuel when empty. It is my prayer that we would surround ourselves with God's word and reminders of His grace. Resurrection Day is coming, but it is daily transforming our hearts and lives. My hope is that these works of art will, in some small way, bring honor and glory to our Redeemer, and draw our hearts again and again to the new life He purchased for us...manifest in our homes and beyond.
