...where the first will be last ...where the weak are made strong
...where wisdom is foolishness to some
...where you love your enemies
...where you tame the tongue but unleash forgiveness
...where you die to live
...where you give it all away because you have nothing to lose
...where the finished work of Christ makes an unfinished work of you
...where slavery is freedom
...where your inheritance is now, and later
...where there's joy in suffering
...where being poor in spirit is blessed
...where you bow your heart to be lifted up
...where there's peace in persecution
...where the greatest gift is costly but free
...where love is not earned
...where the beginning is the end.
There is a place...where the love of Christ meets our sinful flesh, transforming us to live the paradox of the Gospel. That place is the Cross of Christ.
If the way of the Cross seems impossible and counterintuitive, it is. If we don't feel fit for the Cross-centered life...well, that's because we're not. Not in our own wisdom and strength. But take heart, friend, knowing that "it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." (Philippians 2:13)
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." -Jim Elliot
