The Truth About Grace For Today

The Truth About Grace For Today

Grace.

There is grace for today.

Give yourself some grace.

Extend grace to your children.

We so desperately need grace....but today, I'm remembering this:

That grace is not a relief of God's expectations for your holiness, but the fulfillment of them in Christ.

We must hide our unholiness in the wounds of Christ as Moses hid himself in the cleft of the rock while the glory of God passed by. We must take refuge from God in God. Above all we must believe that God sees us perfect in His Son while He disciplines and chastens and purges us that we may be partakers of His holiness.
— A.W. Tozer

When we say there is grace for today, this is the grace we speak of (just a few for your consideration):

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2:8)

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." (Romans 3:23-24)

"Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16)

"You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:1)

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)

So how, then, is it that I so often want the grace and forget the Grace-giver?

I so often welcome the freedom and overlook the price paid for me to access it.

I so often delight in the grace for my own failures, and struggle to extend it to others.

I so easily cry out for grace for today, forgetting that it is already mine in Christ.

My not feeling that I need more grace for today has more to do with my lack of hating sin, but loving comfort. It's forgetting my former deadness in sin, only to expect my aliveness in Christ.

The more we loathe our sin, the greater - the more sufficient - His grace will appear...

"Till sin be bitter, Christ will not be sweet." (Thomas Watson)

Friends, whatever your need is today...however great, however weary you may feel. His grace is enough and has already been accomplished for you through the blood of Christ. Hide yourself in the cleft of His rock, and there we will find the grace that was sufficient yesterday, today, tomorrow, and always.

Because of grace,
