What a privilege it is to know—to believe wholeheartedly that the Lord’s love is steadfast and never ceasing!
The definition of steadfast is firmly fixed in place. It means immovable and not subject to change. Think about God’s love in those terms:
-
His love for us is firmly fixed! (Which means it’s definitely not dependent on us!)
-
His love doesn’t change!
For something to be never ceasing means that it never comes to an end; it doesn’t stop. What does that say about His love for us?
-
His love is continuous—it goes on and on! (No matter what we do or don’t do, His love will never end.)
-
His love is infinite!
Really believing that God’s love is steadfast and never ceasing can change everything because it promises His presence regardless of each day’s challenges and unknowns. With our first breath each morning, we’re also afforded a renewed awareness of His love and mercy. So, even if the day ahead feels overwhelming, His presence, love, and mercy promise to be enough. He is all we need!
These truths bring the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” to mind, and our prayer is that its lyrics will encourage us in truth: God’s love is enough. It is not dependent on you. It is new every morning.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be
Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
(Great is Thy Faithfulness, Thomas O. Chisholm)
The steadfast and never ceasing love of God is a promise of His faithfulness over our lives. His love is demonstrated through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection and they are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!
