My Man Vs. Wild

watch_earthwormI'm not sure what I'm posting today is very grace-laced.

I can, however, offer it as insight into my eccentric life. Or my eccentric husband.

How do I describe him really. He's a lover of the Scriptures, flute music, tai chi, mountain biking, dolmas, Latin, Christian rap, flying, sushi, musicals, guns, jazz, archery, green tea, Shakespeare, Jeeping...and Man Vs. Wild.

I think Bear Grylls taps into my husband's perennial desire to overcome. His motto: "I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified." (1 Cor. 9:27) I'm not sure the Apostle Paul had eating maggots and snakes in mind when he said these words. Whether genuine or a ruse, "Man Vs. Wild" does shed some light onto what it would take to survive any circumstance. And, as my husband imagines himself to require those skills someday somehow, he made the most of this week's downpour that brought many an unsuspecting earthworm to our doorstep.

Be forewarned, it's not for the squeamish.
