Friends, I found myself painting like I often do during naptime. It's a perfect time to think, work quietly with my hands, and meditate on God's Word.
While "beloved" appears in Son of Solomon, and ultimately paints such a beautiful picture of our relationship with Christ, I've been thinking on this passage:
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:1-2)
I'm not a big Valentine's Day girl. Which is to say...I used to be, until I realized I put too much stock in the expectations that commercial holidays prescribed, and am now relieved to not feel bound by hearts, candy, or sparkly gifts.
But, when I think on God's lavish love upon us, romantic love both pales in comparison, and yet simultaneously finds context and worth. The love of God is the only truly satisfying love, the only example of love in action, and the only hope for human love to bear eternal weight.
All that is wrapped up in us being His beloved.
And that's what I was thinking while I worked on this painting, now available as a print.
You are loved...let that sink in today, and always. Have a blessed weekend, friends!
