An Advent Roundup

An Advent Roundup

With the holidays upon us and the gifting season coming up in full swing I'm always in search for the best gifts to share with my friends and family. So many of my GraceLaced friends from around the web have amazing advent series and devotionals that would be great gifts for you and your loved ones to do during this holiday season. I have pulled together a quick round-up of some of my favorites!

Some of my favorite Advent Resources out this year:

Emmanuel by IF:Gathering

"Emmanuel. God with us. Jesus, the one who saves us from sin. For the Advent season, this is what we celebrate, what we meditate on, why we worship the Lord. In the midst of the busy season of Christmas—parties, gifts, family, friends, traveling, shopping—we want to invite you to have an encounter with Jesus. To experience Jesus as Emmanuel—who is with us, with you. The God of the universe so near that He is with you at all times. Through this 4-week study, we pray that you will experience Jesus, that you will have an encounter with Him, that you will experience the beautiful, life changing meaning of Emmanuel—God with you."

The Wonder of the Greatest Gift by Ann Voskamp

"Based on her bestseller Unwrapping the Greatest Gift, Ann Voskamp expands her presentation of the timeless Advent tradition of the Jesse Tree with this beautiful keepsake that can be handed down and enjoyed for generations. Each December, families can celebrate the coming of Jesus by opening the book to see a stunning 13-inch, three-dimensional Jesse Tree pop up from the page. At its foot are 25 doors, one for each day of Advent, which hide meaningful, beautifully detailed ornaments―including the Christmas star―that are ready to be hung on the tree. Also inside is a simple devotional book with a reading for each ornament. Create precious holiday memories with The Wonder of the Greatest Giftpop-up book and recapture the sacredness of the Advent season as you celebrate the epic pageantry of the coming of the Messiah."

Unwrapping the Names of Jesus by Asheritah Ciuciu

"This devotional can be used by readers in their own personal worship times or as a tool to engage in family worship during the busy holiday season. Either way, participants will gain a greater sense of awe and wonder at who Jesus is.

By focusing on the person and character of Jesus throughout the Advent season, readers will prepare their hearts so that when they admire the live nativity, sit in the candlelight service, or wake up on Christian morning, they can join the faithful who sing from the bottom of their hearts, 'O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!'"

Come, Let Us Adore Him Advent Series by Paul David Tripp

"Every time the Christmas season comes around, we look forward to putting up a tree, giving and receiving gifts, and participating in other traditions that make this wonderful time of year so special. But sometimes the most significant aspect of the season — remembering and focusing on the coming of Jesus — grows old and familiar.

In Come Let Us Adore Him: A Daily Advent Devotional, Paul Tripp seeks to recapture our attention and reawaken our awe during Christmastime. Each day is structured like Tripp’s best-selling devotional, New Morning Mercies‚ with a compelling, gospel-centered thought followed by an extended meditation for the day.

Each of the thirty-one devotions also includes a Scripture reading and notes for parents and children, equipping us to do the one thing that matters most each December — celebrate Jesus."

Counting the Days, Lighting the Candles by Elyse Fitzpatrick

"Of course we know that Christmas is about Jesus...So why is it that we miss seeing him in the midst of all the hustle and bustle? "Counting the Days, Lighting the Candles" is a Christmas Advent Devotional to help you and your family rejoice and rest in the holiday season. Beginning with December 1 and all through the month, you'll find separate readings for adults and children for each day. Also included are 4 activity suggestions that will enhance your family's experience of this blessed holiday season."

He Is: Experiencing the Power of Jesus' Name - (sold out but follow along online)

"We'll talk about God as Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. We'll see how Scripture explains these unique attributes of Christ and how we can engage with Him in our daily lives."

All Good Things Collective

"Friend, we know you don't need more activities to oversee, more crafts to make, or more on your list of to-dos this Advent. Our invitation to you is to step out of the frenetic pace of the season to simply connect with Christ and with others. Our anthem this year is DO LESS! And as you remember and worship Jesus in simple ways through Advent, we pray you find that doing less means a whole lot more."

She Reads Truth

"Joy to the world, the Lord has come! Join us this Advent season as we read the story of Jesus’ birth. From the earliest promises of His coming in the Old Testament, to the angelic messengers announcing His birth to the shepherds, this 4-week Scripture reading plan presents the biblical story of our need for Christ and the glory of His arrival.

The Joy to the World Advent study book is loaded with all kinds of Christmas goodness. You’ll find maps and charts to help you understand the daily Scripture readings, fun facts and stories about holiday traditions, as well as recipes, prayers, and songs to help you form new ones. Read with us this Advent season as we anticipate and celebrate the coming of Christ, discovering anew 'the glories of His righteousness and wonders of His love.'"
