A World Where There Are Octobers {Drawing Close, Day 5}

Today is my birthday. It's October, the leaves are rustling, the International Balloon Fiesta is all abuzz here in Albuquerque, and I'm 38 years old. I have so much to be grateful for and so much to rejoice in, not the least of which is the compelling love of Christ-- the wondrous grace that makes all things new.

And, perhaps that is what I love so much about October. It reminds me that there is a transformation to all things. That we are not left as we are.

I'd have nothing if I didn't have the hope of being transformed day by day. Lord willing, no two Octobers will ever be the same because for me, there is no going back...only forward as God enables and provides for all that he calls and promises. I am so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers...because October means the old is passing and the new is coming around the bend.

I'm no watercolorist, but I'm continuing on the journey to faithfully put my pencil or brush to the task of noting and cherishing grace found in my life, all of October.

And today, I'm drawing close to the passing of the old and the coming of the new, found in the last remaining days of a pot of flowers on my windowsill.

Join me everyday this month for the Drawing Close series.
